Pizza Bars across central London

Wherever you have ended up in central London, there is usually a Pizza Union within a short walk. Spitalfields on Sandy’s Row was the first, sitting a few minutes from Old Spitalfields Market. Aldgate is on Leman Street in Goodman’s Fields. Holborn is on New Oxford Street, between the British Museum and Covent Garden. Hoxton sits on City Road at the Shoreditch end, and Kings Cross is on Pentonville Road, a few minutes from the station and pointing towards Angel.

The menu and the prices are identical at every one, so the only question is which is closest. A 12-inch Marinara is £3.95 and a Margherita £5.95, with beer from £3.50, soft drinks from £1.90, frozen cocktails at £4.95 and wine at £4.95 a glass. There are 15 pizzas, all 12 inch, all fire-baked Roman style, thin and crispy, and you can see the full menu before you set off.

What to expect when you walk in

This is a Pizza Bar rather than a restaurant. You order at the till, grab a seat at one of the long shared tables, and the pizza comes out of the fire oven in 5-10 minutes. There is no table service and no waiting for a bill, so a group can pay together or separately without anybody doing arithmetic at the end of the night.

Every Pizza Bar is open from 11am to 11pm, seven days a week, with the same prices all day. Walk-ins have always worked and still do, so there is no need to book for a couple of you. If you are bringing a crowd, tables run from 2 up to 50 and it is worth booking ahead so the table is waiting. Collection and delivery are both available if you would rather eat somewhere else, and if you are after the cheapest way to eat in the city, there is more on cheap eats across London.
